The Origin of SHS Girls and The Reason Why They Always Trend Online.

The term 'SHS Girls' is not new, you may have seen it on headlines of major gossip blogs in Africa such as Toktok9ja, Zacknation, Ghgossip, and so many other websites with the same niche.

You may be wondering, who are SHS girls?

SHS is the short form of 'Senior High School Students', which is synonymous with SS1 – SS3 senior secondary school students in Nigeria.

The term SHS is used mostly for Secondary (High) school students from Cameroon, Ghana, and South Africa. Nigerian students are not included for obvious reasons.

Now, why are they trending so much online?

The Origin of SHS Girls and The Reason Why They Always Trend Online
Let me answer that question very quickly. For some time now, there is hardly a day you won’t see a headline with the term SHS Girls. The reason is that SHS students are fond of exhibiting one act or the other that makes them trends online. It seems they just love seeing themselves on blogs and websites.

The funny thing is that they are trending for the wrong reasons and we keep asking what steps are parents and guardians taking to ensure that their wards are not exhibiting characteristics that portray a bad image.

We have seen unprintable videos of SHS students, mostly girls, fighting over a boyfriend, dancing, and doing all manner of things online even during class hours.

Some of them even leak their secret videos online for the world to see, without minding the repercussion in the future.

One thing about the internet is that it doesn’t forget, whatever trends online is there for a lifetime and cannot be erased.

These students might be mortgaging their future without knowing, thinking they are having fun as teenagers.

I think it’s our responsibility as parents, guardians, brothers, sisters, friends, neighbours to call these teenagers (SHS Girls) to order, else we’ll end up bring up half-baked graduates who have very little to offer to their generation.

I’m sure I might have not have covered the entire term SHS girls.
